Bold Inner City Play
Winnipeg, Manitoba
Northwood Community Centre
Northwood Community Centre in Winnipeg’s inner city recently undertook a complete park renovation, including a playground designed to appeal to a wide range of ages and abilities. They opted for a bold and colourful design featuring a wide variety of slides and climbers as well as multi-coloured decks to aid the visually-impaired. Steel slides were chosen for maximum durability and vandal-resistance. Equipped with a transfer station, the play structure is fantastic for smaller children or those with limited mobility and adds easy access for caregivers. Smaller children will be entertained on one end by lower slides and simple climbers while older children are met with challenging pieces that will help build their coordination and agility. A quiet zone features a U-Sway, two swing sets, a play panel station and a communication board to round out the play experience and make the park truly a play space for everyone. “The Northwood Community Centre has always been a hub of activity, a place where families gather, friendships are formed and memories are made,” said Point Douglas Counsellor Vivian Santos. “With these new enhancements we’re not only improving the physical landscape but also fostering an environment that promotes health, wellness and inclusivity.”
