Nestled in the heart of Invermere, B.C., the playground at Mount Nelson Athletic Park (MNAP) is a vibrant, inclusive space designed for adventurers of all ages and abilities. Thanks to the support of Columbia Basin Trust, this playground brings new opportunities for fun, movement, and connection to the community. One of the biggest challenges was ensuring accessibility without compromising on excitement. The solution? A thoughtfully designed play area featuring Blue Imp’s U-Swing, All-Around Accessible Merry-Go-Round, and Accessible Bouncing Chuckwagon, ensuring that children of all abilities can join in the fun. The StoneWood Log Tunnel, Rootz Pebble Link, and Ninja Wall add a layer of challenge, while the Woodland Café and “Kids Only” Sign create imaginative play spaces. The playground also boasts three different Starglide Slides, offering variety for thrill-seekers. Built on a durable rubberized pour-in-place surfacing, the playground is not only safe but also wheelchair- and stroller-friendly, making it easier for families and individuals with mobility challenges to join the play. This transformation is just the beginning of a larger vision to enhance Invermere’s parks and green spaces—creating a welcoming outdoor hub for generations to come.
