Compact & Inclusive
Langley, British Columbia
Josette Dandurand Elementary
This inclusive playground was thoughtfully planned as part of a brand new school, creating a welcoming play environment from day one. Beyond inclusion, maximizing play value in a smaller space was a key consideration. The central play structure features classic favourites such as climbers, slides, and overhead elements that build strength, coordination, and confidence. Select overhead components are positioned at ground level, ensuring upper-body play is accessible to more users. A fully accessible merry-go-round encourages shared movement and social interaction, while a multi-user disc swing with wheelchair transfer capability delivers the joy of swinging for all abilities. Ground-level play panels offer sensory and cognitive activities for quieter moments of engagement. Finished with vibrant, multi-colour rubber surfacing and connected by accessible pathways leading directly from the school, this playground supports inclusive play and connection for every student.
